JFE Engineering Corporation
JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Kazuyoshi Fukuda, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will take the rostrum at the seminar*2 hosted by the Japan Environmental Facilities Manufacturers Association (JEFMA) as a member company of JEFMA at the "Japan Pavilion" during the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29)*1, held in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 11th to 22nd November.
This will be our second time presenting at a seminar, following our hands-on exhibits at COP27's "Japan Pavilion" in Egypt in 2022. At COP27, by showcasing our achievements in waste-to-energy and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives through the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), we appealed widely to attendees from various countries as a company with concrete technologies contributing to a decarbonized society.
This time, JEFMA will hold a seminar titled "Advanced Waste Management for Circular Economy & Energy Solutions," where we will present a lecture on "JFE's solutions for circular economy ~Waste recycle technology and CCUS~."
We are the only company in the world with the "C-PhoeniX Process®*3," which can gasify a wide range of waste and stably supply high-quality refined synthesis gas. In February of this year, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) selected our proposal to "Waste-to-Chemical technology development for Green Ethanol production by integration of Advanced Gasification and Biochemical conversion technologies" using this process under the "Green Innovation Fund Project, Achieving Carbon Neutrality in Waste and Resource Circulation"*4. This process enables the stable production of refined synthesis gas, mainly composed of hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). It attracts global attention as an essential technology for establishing the "Waste-to-Chemical process," such as using waste as raw materials for plastics and SAF*5 or as a hydrogen source, aiming for social implementation by FY2030.
Additionally, we will introduce the first green methanol production in Japan from CO₂ in waste incineration exhaust gas, which was achieved by separating and capturing CO₂ from the emissions of an incineration plant with the cooperation of the Fujimi Eisei Kumiai (Mitaka City and Chofu City, Tokyo) and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc.*6.
We will continue to meet global resource recycling and waste management needs while striving to become a company leading global decarbonization efforts.
