Hybrid pontoon, steel pontoon

The JFE Hybrid Pontoon consists of a composite plate and steel members.
The plate thickness can be reduced by using high-strength composite plates. Steel pontoons are also available, where the outer wall consists of steel plates only.

Features of the construction method

  1. The plate thickness can be reduced and the weight can be reduced.
  2. It can be installed in shallow water depths.
  3. The inside of the box is completely watertight.
  4. The steel plate on the concrete-coated inner surface is resistant to corrosion.

Hybrid Pontoons (Overview of Construction Method)

Composite plates and steel shell walls are used
⇒ Thin wall
⇒ Light weight allows for a smaller draft
