Overseas Experiences
Starting with the order for construction of a wastewater treatment facility in the Philippines in 1995, we entered the EPC solution business for water treatment and wastewater treatment plants for overseas markets. We are accumulating experience mainly in South-East Asian countries, such as the Philippines and Vietnam. At the outset, we were primarily engaged in small-sized plants, but as our accumulated performance was highly evaluated, we grew to carry out the construction work for plants with a capacity from 10,000 m3/day to 270,000 m3/day. In recent years, we have also expanded into the construction of water treatment plants, and we have received an order in the Philippines for a plant which is about the same size as the fifth largest water treatment plant in Japan. Our capability of EPC solution is being acknowledged steadily, and we are expanding our water and wastewater treatment plants to other South-East Asian countries.
Overseas Experiences for Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment
Tarayan Wastewater Treatment Plant
Client | Maynilad Water Services Inc. |
---|---|
Location | Metropolitan area of Manila, Philippines |
Treatment Process | Conventional activated sludge process |
Capacity | 15,400m3/day |
Funding | World Bank |
This compact facility with a site area limited to 1,800m2 is located in Quezon City, a densely populated residential area in the Philippines, and has a daily treatment capacity of 15,400m3. We succeeded in drastically reducing the area of the site by designing the optimum hydraulic retention time, introducing a high-rate plate for the primary sedimentation tank, and a two-story scraper for the final sedimentation tank.

Location | Metropolitan area of Manila, Philippines |
Treatment Process | Conventional activated sludge process |
Capacity | 76,000m3/day |
Funding | Japan International Cooperation Agency (ODA Loans (Sector Loans)) |
Located in the South-Western part of Manila in the Philippines, it is the largest wastewater treatment facility of Maynilad Inc. with a capacity of 76,000 m3/day using the conventional activated sludge process. Our overall arrangement within a limited area and our design and build capability, which can be optimized for local sewage water quality, have been highly evaluated by the client.

La Mesa Water Treatment Plant1
Client | Maynilad Water Services Inc. |
---|---|
Location | Metropolitan Manila, Philippines |
Treatment Process | Flocculation-Sedimentation-Filtration |
Capacity | 1,500,000m3/day |
Funding | Maynilad Water Services Inc. |
This water purification plant is located in Quezon City, Philippines, and processes 1,500,000m3/day (equivalent to 6 million people) as largest water purification plant of the country. We introduced lamella tubes, sludge scrapers etc. in the sedimentation tank, and installed sludge treatment facility (thickening and dewatering) so that we could strengthen suppliable water purification capacity reliably, even when turbidity is rising, to optimize the operation. In addition, a photovoltaic power generation system, as a renewable energy, is introduced to cover a part of the operating power supply for this plant.
This Project was rated highly for its smooth execution in accordance with the FIDIC standard contract forms despite various restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and awarded "Project of the Year" of 「2022 FIDIC Contract Users' Awards」by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers.

Location | Hanoi, Vietnam |
Treatment Process | Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic process |
Capacity | 36,000m3/day |
Funding | Japan International Cooperation Agency (ODA Loans) |
This sewage treatment facility in the Hoa Lac area near Hanoi applied the anaerobic-anoxic-oxic process to treat wastewater at a capacity of 36,000m3/day. This facility is an essential infrastructure for the Hoa Lac Science and Technology City, a science and technological hub to accelerate the economic growth of the country.

Yen Xa Sewage Treatment Plant
Client | Hanoi City |
---|---|
Location | Hanoi, Vietnam |
Treatment Process | Anaerobic-Aerobic process |
Capacity | 270,000m3/day |
Funding | Japan International Cooperation Agency (ODA Loans) |
This is a sewage treatment plant located in the Yen Xa district, Hanoi with a water treatment capacity of 270,000m3/day (equivalent to 0.9 million people), which combines an advanced treatment process to efficiently remove nitrogen and phosphorus. In order to achieve “quality infrastructure exports”, we incorporate Japanese technologies into various places, and we are coordinating these technologies to advance construction work as EPC contractor. When completed, this plant will become the largest sewage treatment plant in the capital city of Hanoi.

Kandy City Sewage Treatment Plant
Client | National Water and Water Drainage Public Corporation |
---|---|
Location | Kandy, Sri Lanka |
Treatment Process | Oxidation Ditch process |
Capacity | 14,000m3/day |
Funding | Japan International Cooperation Agency (ODA Loans) |
Located in Kandy District, Central Province, Sri Lanka, famous for its World Heritage Site, this wastewater treatment plant has a capacity of 14,000 m3/day. The operation and maintenance for the plant become simple by using the Oxidation Ditch process, in which wastewater is treated by efficiently supplying oxygen using a submerged propeller and air diffuser in the aeration tank and thoroughly agitates the oxygen.
