JFE Engineering Enters into Capital and Business Alliance with Switzerland-based EnergieLink Holding AG in the Global Waste-to-Energy Business
— Entry into the After-Sales Services Business for Waste-to-Energy Plants in Europe —

JFE Engineering Corporation

JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Kazuyoshi Fukuda; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; "JFE Engineering") has acquired a 45% equity interest in EnergieLink Holding AG ("EnergieLink"), a Swiss company engaged in after-sales services for waste-to-energy (WtE*1) plants in Europe, including maintenance, revamping and upgrades, and spare parts supply. JFE Engineering has also entered into a business alliance agreement with EnergieLink.

Established in 2011, EnergieLink provides after-sales services specializing in WtE plants, primarily in Europe, from its bases in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Its services cover a broad range of needs, from maintenance and spare parts supply to facility improvements.

In Europe, more than 500 existing WtE plants are in operation, many of which have been in service for more than 30 years since construction. In light of the aging of these existing plants and the need to comply with environmental regulations, demand for maintenance, revamping, upgrade works, and related services is expected to grow. Through this alliance, the JFE Engineering Group will enter the after-sales services business for WtE plants in Europe.

Going forward, the JFE Engineering Group, including Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH ("SBG"), its European base in the waste-to-energy plant business, will work together with EnergieLink to enhance its capabilities in both EPC*2 and after-sales services in the global WtE market, thereby further strengthening its provision of lifecycle services for WtE plants to customers.

  • *1 WtE (Waste to Energy): An abbreviation for waste-to-energy power generation.
  • *2 EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction): A project delivery method under which engineering, procurement, and construction are undertaken on an integrated basis.
