JFE Engineering Receives New Order for Waste to Energy plant equipment in Chiayi City in Taiwan

JFE Engineering Corporation (President: Kazuyoshi Fukuda, hereinafter referred to as "JFE") has received an order for major equipment for a Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant from ECOVE Chiayi Energy Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "ECOVE Chiayi"), a special purpose company formed by CTCI Corporation (Headquarters: Taipei City, Taiwan), the largest engineering company in Taiwan, and ECOVE Environment Corporation (Headquarters: Taipei City, Taiwan), an affiliate of the CTCI Group and a leader in effective waste management and resource recovery.
This WtE plant (processing capacity: 500 tons/day) will be implemented to the Green Energy Sustainable Circulation Center BOT Project in Chiayi City, cooperated to the Environmental Protection Bureau, Chiayi City Government via public-private partnerships (PPP). JFE will handle the design, procurement, and act as a Technical Advisor during the installation and commissioning by ECOVE Chiayi for the plant's main equipment, including the incinerator and boiler facilities etc. (hereinafter referred to as "this Order").
JFE possesses stable waste combustion technology, known for suppressing dioxins and carbon monoxide concentrations in exhaust gas to low levels. Our abundant track record with such technologies was highly evaluated, leading to this Order. Additionally, this marks JFE's first project in Taiwan since the construction for the Wenshan Incineration Plant (processing capacity: 900 tons/day) in Taichung City in 1995.
In Taiwan, Waste-to-Energy plants were developed from the 1980s to the 2000s. Currently, with more than 20 years since the plants began operating, there is increasing demand for facility renewal to enhance capacity and efficiency at Waste-to-Energy plants. JFE will continue providing optimal technologies to meet customer needs as a leading company in the Waste-to-Energy plant field, aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and address social issues through effective utilization of waste.
