JFEEI awarded EPC Contract for additional spherical tank facility project in Indonesia

PT JFE Engineering Indonesia (JFEEI), the local subsidiary in Indonesia of JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita; Head Office: Chiyoda, Tokyo), has been awarded by PT Standard Toyo Polymer, a joint venture in Indonesia by Tosoh Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., for its EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) project to construct additional spherical tank facility in Merak in Western Java (Banten)*1. Slated for completion in 1st Quarter of 2025, this facility will be used to store the raw materials of polyvinyl chloride widely used for construction materials and for daily supplies.

Since the 1970s, JFEEI has built oil, gas, and chemical plants in Indonesia. With its about 100 employees, including Japanese staff, JFEEI provides customers with one-stop services for plant construction, from selecting construction sites and handling the regulatory approval processes, through planning, designing, procuring, constructing, and testing facilities based on customers' needs.

JFE Engineering group, together with JFE Project One Co., Ltd.*2 who has many track records in EPC projects for chemical plants, has been collaborating to support the increasing number of expansion and upgrade projects for chemical plants in South East Asian countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. By strengthening the cooperation and collaboration amongst the operating subsidiaries, JFE Engineering group is able to propose the optimal solution including the suitable design and the cost competitive procurement source customized for each client of various locations and of diverse needs.

By enhancing the synergy within the group and strengthening the collaboration between the operation bases in the SE Asian region, JFE and JFEEI are stepping up efforts to support these increasing EPC needs while remaining committed to initiatives to achieve a decarbonized society through projects to help build a sustainable society, such as the conversion to decarbonized fuel and recovery of unused waste heat.
