PT JFE Engineering Indonesia
PT JFE Engineering Indonesia (JFEEI), the local subsidiary in Indonesia of JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita; Head Office: Chiyoda, Tokyo), has been selected by PT Standard Toyo Polymer, a joint venture in Indonesia by Tosoh Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., for its EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) project to expand a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing facility in Merak in Western Java (Banten). Slated for completion in February 2023, this facility will produce PVC to be used broadly as raw materials for construction materials and for daily supplies.
Since the 1970s, JFEEI has built oil, gas, and chemical plants. Currently, about 100 employees, including Japanese nationals, provide customers with one-stop services for plant construction, from selecting construction sites and handling the regulatory approval processes, through planning, designing, procuring, constructing, and testing facilities based on customers' needs. JFEEI has been selected for the project because of its strong track record, fine-tuned support, and competitive pricing, as well as the assistance of JFE Project One Co., Ltd.* for its strength in EPC projects for chemical plants.
As there is a strong demand for a better quality of life in Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, further expansion of chemical plants is expected along with the growing demand for infrastructures and daily supplies. JFE and JFEEI are stepping up efforts to support these needs while remaining committed to initiatives to achieve a decarbonized society through projects to help build a sustainable society, such as the construction of geothermal facilities.
