(Head Office: Atsuta-ku, Nagoya; Representative Director & President: Noboyuki Masuda; "Toho Gas"), and Tokyo Century Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Makoto Nogami; "Tokyo Century") have agreed to invest in Tahara Biomass Power LLC ("the project company"), which was established by JFE Engineering, and decided to commercialize a 112 MW woody biomass combustion power plant, the largest of its kind in Japan and the largest biomass plant that the investing companies have attempted, in Tahara city, Aichi prefecture.
Today, we are pleased to announce that the project company signed a project financing agreement.
Biomass power generation is a renewable energy source whose output is easily adjusted and capable of stably producing power, so the investing companies have been actively developing it to serve as a core power source. This project will contribute to realizing a carbon neutral and sustainable society.
With the understanding and cooperation of the local community as well as the relevant entities, the four investors and project company are aiming to commence operation in September 2025.
