JFE Engineering Group Receives Order for Waste Heat Recovery Boilers in Germany

27 September 2019
JFE Engineering Corporation
Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH

Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH (hereinafter, SBG), a subsidiary of JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita, Head Office, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) received an order for two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) for a new advanced high-efficiency gas and steam turbine power plant which Evonik is to install in Marl, Germany.

At present, German companies are actively involved in efforts to realize efficient energy use, including introduction of cogeneration systems (CHP).
Evonik decided to further promote efficient energy use by replacing the last coal-fired power plant at Marl Chemical Park with a new combined cycle power plant.

This project will be carried out by Siemens Gas and Power as the general contractor, and as a subcontractor, SBG will design and construct two heat recovery steam generators. These boilers will generate high pressure steam and low pressure steam using the exhaust gas generated by gas turbine and an auxiliary firing system. The steam generated by the boilers will be used in steam turbines to produce electricity and additionally steam from the boiler is used for process matters in chemical plants at the Marl Chemical Park.

SBG has constructed more than 100 heat recovery steam generators, mainly in Europe. In addition to this extensive track record, the company also received a high evaluation for its tailor-made firing concepts. The proposed concept convinced the customer to award the project to SBG.

In the future, the JFE Engineering Group will continue to supply the optimum technologies for the diversification of client needs in countries around the world.
