J Farm's High Sugar Content Tomatoes Win Gold Medal at Vegetable Summit - High Evaluation at Exhibition Sponsored by Japan Vegetable Sommelier Association -

High sugar content tomatoes^*1 produced by J Farm Corporation (President: Masayuki Numai, Head Office: Sapporo, Hokkaido; hereinafter J Farm), a group company of JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter JFE Engineering) were awarded the Gold Medal at the "Vegetable Summit (held in November 2017)"^*2 sponsored by the Japan Vegetable Sommelier Association.

In addition to its Tomakomai Plant, which was started up in 2014, J Farm also produces high sugar content tomatoes at its Sapporo Plant, which began operation in April of this year, and sells this product under its own brand as "Red Jewel Sapporo." These premium tomatoes have won a high evaluation not only in Japan, but also in the Asian region (Singapore, Hong Kong).

Taking advantage of this award, JFE Engineering and J Farm plan to further enhance the brand strength of "Red Jewel Sapporo." In addition to the high value-added agricultural products production business, the companies will also work to expand sales of Smart-Agriculture plants utilizing leading-edge technology, thereby contributing to shaping a competitive Japanese agricultural industry.

"Vegetable sommeliers" are specialists who have mastered the knowledge of vegetables and fruits and can spread its fascination and value in society.
