JFE Engineering receives order for the biggest Biomass-fired power plant, Buzen in Japan

JFE Engineering Corporation (hereinafter, "JFEE", Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisanori Kanou) announced today that the company has been awarded an order for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) of 74.95MWe biomass power plant using Valmet*1's CFB*2 boiler from Buzen New Energy ,LLC(hereinafter, "Buzen New Energy" )*3.
This plant, which will be constructed for Buzen New Energy in Kyushu Kouatsu Concrete Industries Co., Ltd. Buzen works, are scheduled to commence the business in the second half of 2019. It will supply annual about 530 million kWh electric power*4 stably by using biomass; PKS(Palm Kernel Shell) and wood pellet as fuels. It is the biggest biomass power plant which is fed with biomass only in Japan.
It had been required biomass power plant which is scaled-up, high efficiency, and fuel diversification. In that requirement, it was the key factor of this order from Buzen New Energy that we can achieve the world highest level thermal efficiency by using the Valmet's state-of-the-art technology of CFB boiler called CYMICâ„¢.
JFEE has made our lineup wider 10~350MWe, which can cover both for industries and for utilities since we made the cooperation agreement with Valmet.
JFEE and Valmet contribute to stable power supply and global warming countermeasures through supplying biomass power plants which are carbon neutral as well as base load power with our biomass and waste-fired boilers.
