With the steel and shipbuilding businesses as the foundation, JFE Engineering Corporation has expanded into new business fields that support people’s lifestyles and various industries through the process of combining multiple organizations into one, which creates strengths while merging technologies.
Nowadays, there is a worldwide need to realize sustainable societies. In line with the watchwords—Just for the Earth—as our corporate mission, we are accelerating our entry into new business fields. I believe that the most important issue that we must face within these new fields is the promotion of diversity and inclusion so that each employee can demonstrate their individual capabilities to reach their full potential, which enables our company to continue creating, leading, and connecting with a foundation of everyday living into the future.
Our company brings together a diversity of individuals with a variety of different skills, experiences, and ways of thinking. Previously, we promoted the creation of a corporate culture that enabled strengths of each individual to be converted into organizational strengths. Moving forward, we will endeavor to further expand and enhance our diversity promotion system and measures by highlighting diversity initiatives with the aim of creating an organization that empowers everyone who works for us to reach their full potential.

Diversity Promotion System

As part of our CSR promotional activities, our management team established the Diversity Committee in order to formulate and review company-wide diversity promotion policies and develop and implement plans for diversity advocacy in each division. The leaders of each division coordinate with the Diversity Promotion Leader in supporting diversity and inclusion within their divisions.

Social Mission
Our company is expanding our business activities in the fields that support people’s lifestyles and industry, such as the environment, energy, and social infrastructure, taking on the challenge of achieving the SDGs head on. With the aim of becoming a company that can lead the world in attaining the SDGs, we are enthusiastic about promoting diversity in order to bring together people who share our vision regardless of gender, nationality, or background.
Changes in the Business Environment
As we accelerate our entry into new business fields through tie-ups with different industries and by expanding business with overseas partners, it is essential that we integrate the ideas and skills of diverse human resources in order for us to accurately identify needs and generate innovation. In addition, we are striving to encourage diversity so as to make sure that we continue to adapt to the constantly changing business environment.
Bringing Together Diverse Employees
Our company strengthened its technological power and expanded its business activities by combining different organizations through corporate mergers. At the same time, we brought together employees from a diverse range of backgrounds as the result of operating bases in Japan and overseas along with proactively undertaking career recruitment on a continuous basis. With the aim of evolving our organizational strengths, we are advocating the value of diversity by respecting the individuality of each employee while merging organizations.
