Hybrid pontoon, steel pontoon

JFE Engineering’s hybrid pontoon is  a RC hybrid type pontoon that consists of securely integrated composite slabs of a steel plate and reinforced concrete, as well as steel members such as steel plates and shaped steel. The use of high-strength composite slabs makes it possible to reduce the thickness and weight of slabs as is the case with hybrid caissons. Steel pontoons using only steel plates, not composite slabs, for the external walls can be further reduced in weight, and as a result, the draught under their own weight can be reduced, and steel pontoons are fully compatible with installation conditions in shallow water.
The floating bodies of all JFE Engineering’s pontoons are covered with composite slabs or steel plates, which provide a full hermetic structure.
