JFE Engineering Receives Order from Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. for Ibaraki Trunk Line Gas

JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hajime Oshita, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has received an order from Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Michiaki Hirose, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, hereafter "Tokyo Gas,") to construct its Ibaraki Trunk Line gas pipeline.

Tokyo Gas is accelerating its installation of energy infrastructure and is now proceeding with the construction of its Ibaraki Trunk Line gas pipeline to connect the Hitachi LNG Terminal and Kamisu City in Ibaraki Prefecture. The opening of the Ibaraki Trunk Line will complete the loop of high-pressure gas pipelines around the entire Kanto region and improve stable energy supply.
Further conduit extensions are expected in the future, which would expand the spread of natural gas and stimulate power generation demand.

The target for completion of this project is FY 2020, which has required the period of construction to be shortened by 2/3 compared to conventional gas pipeline works. JFE Engineering received this order for approx. 80 km of the total length of 92 km gas pipeline based on recognition of our capabilities in completing construction work within a short period, as well as our fostering of pipeline construction technology until now.

We expect demand from various energy operators for installation of pipeline networks to continue to increase in the future as the liberalization of electricity and gas progresses. JFE Engineering will continue to actively respond to demand for natural gas-related facilities, which is expected to increase both within and outside Japan, with the latest technology and our wealth of experience.
