The First Order of 75MWe class Biomass Power Plant by Cooperation Agreement with Valmet,Finland

7 October 2016
JFE Engineering Corporation

JFE Engineering Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Hisanori Kanou) took the first EPC(Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) order of 75MWe biomass power plant using Valmet*1's CFB*2 boiler from MPM Oji Eco Energy Corporation (MOE)*3 since JFEE made the cooperation agreement with Valmet of Finland.

This plant, which will be constructed for MOE in Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited Hachinohe works, are scheduled to commence the business in the first half of FY2019. It will supply annual about 5.3 billion kWh electric power*4 stably by using biomass; wood chip, PKS(Palm Kernel Shell) and coal as fuels. It was the key factor of this order from MOE that we can achieve the world highest level thermal efficiency by using the Valmet's state of the art technology of CFB boilers.

Nowadays, it is even needed for biomass power plant that scale-up, high efficiency, and fuel diversification. In March 2015, JFEE made the cooperation agreement, which JFEE can exclusively supply Valmet's CFE Boilers called "CYMICâ„¢" in Japan to meet these needs.

Valmet is a leading bioenergy technology provider, specializing in the utilization of various solid fuels such as biomass, low rank coal, and waste-based fuels in fluidized bed boilers. The company has delivered over 250 fluidized bed boilers, including the largest biomass-fired boiler in the world with the effect of 250MWe. JFEE has delivered 10~50MWe class CFB boilers, and this cooperation agreement make our lineup wider 10~350MWe, which can cover both for industries and for utilities.

JFEE and Valmet contribute to stable power supply and global warming countermeasures through supplying biomass power plants which are carbon neutral as well as base load power with our biomass and waste-fired boilers.
