Toho Gas Co., Ltd (Head Office: Atsuta-ku, Nagoya; President: Koichi Yasui) and JFE Engineering Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisanori Kanou) are pleased to announce that the companies have successfully developed a super-compact BOG (boil-off gas) recondenser for LNG receiving and regasification terminals.

This newly-developed BOG recondenser is indeed very small. In a typical case (Capacity = 13t/h), the diameter is only 0.3m and the length 3m. The same of a conventional one (heat exchange type) are 1m and 12m respectively. This means the new recondenser is only 2% of the conventional one in volume.

This super-compact feature will bring huge benefit to LNG terminal operators. It will reduce CAPEX and OPEX significantly. The required footprint will be reduced extremely. The maintenance works will be much easier and less labor-intensive because of its small and simple configuration.

Toho Gas will install this new BOG recondenser in their LNG terminal in Chita Midorihama Works. JFE Engineering has been awarded as the EPC contractor for the engineering, installation and commissioning works. The BOG recondenser is scheduled to be in operation in 2016 summer..
