JFE Engineering Corporation

JFE Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Hisanori Kanou; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan) would like to announce that it has agreed to begin cooperation with Priva B.V. (CEO: Meintje Maria Cornelia Prins; Head Office: Zijlweg 3, 2678 LC De Lier, The Netherlands), as described below, in order to supply "smart-agri plant" greenhouses optimized by region and crop:

JFE Engineering has initiated a horticulture business through one of our affiliates, J Farm Tomakomai (President: Koichi Kimura; Head Office: Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan). In August of this year, we will commence production of crops at our own smart-agri greenhouses, which are equipped with tri-generation systems that supply electricity, heat and CO2 using natural gas and biomass as energy sources.
We are also in the process of developing hydroponic cultivation techniques for tomatoes with high sugar contents (three times that of ordinary tomatoes) and various other high added-value crops at an experimental greenhouse located at our Yokohama Head Office.
Priva is the market leader in integrated climate control systems and irrigation systems for greenhouse horticulture with a 70% global market share. Priva supplies these systems widely, not only in Europe, but also in North America, Central and South America, Asia and other regions.

Combining Priva’s world standard systems with JFE Engineering's cultivation techniques and energy utilization technologies for natural gas, biomass, solar power, geothermal energy, etc. will make it possible for us to supply high efficiency horticultural solutions optimized for the climatic and energy conditions of individual target locations.
We can also customize cultivation systems for high sugar tomatoes and other high added-value products in order to satisfy broad-ranging customer needs.

The areas where JFE Engineering will be responsible for engineering under this cooperation agreement with Priva are as follows:
Japan, Asia (excluding China and Korea) and Russian Far East (including Sakhalin, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, etc.)
In the future, JFE Engineering will actively propose smart-agri plant horticultural solution in the above-mentioned areas with the aim of expanding its business in the smart agriculture field.
