Restaurant Kitchen waste methane fermentation and power generation model project for Shenyang

Waste disposal and sludge treatment are among the serious challenges China is facing currently. What is needed to resolve these problems is a kind of technology capable of recovering energy or treating waste or sludge through recycling, not simply incinerate or landfill.
The Shenyang Project is one of the projects targeted at 30 cities, which are designated as critical models for the treatment of kitchen waste from restaurants in the twelfth 5-Year Plan economic growth strategy promoted by the Chinese government. In collaboration with a local environmental engineering company as a partner, JFE Engineering is working to properly treat the 200 tons of raw garbage disposed from restaurants per day to resolve the abovementioned problems.
The equipment used in the project is a combination of long-accumulated sewage sludge treatment technology, which is the principal technology, coupled with a technology adopted by an organic industrial waste methane fermentation facility. For automatic sorting, crushing and slurry formation technology, we used such systems as have been introduced in Japan.  The BB Mixer digestion tank stirrer is formed into a “banana blade” shape, which does not allow foreign substances to entwine around the mixer, and it is made of resin which is non-adherent to MAP scale. The gas engine is a high-efficiency type that has long been used for sewage sludge biogas. We use biological desulfurization system, which does not need absorbent material used in the dry desulfurization system resulting in significantly reduced running costs.
We are planning to apply our technology to the treatment of kitchen waste from general households in addition to restaurants.
