Engineering Corporation announced today that it has
been awarded a contract by Thai Tinplate Mfg. Co., Ltd.
(TTP; Managing Director: Chayanon Visvapolboon) to build
its No. 4 electrolytic tinning line (ETL) and coil preparation
line (CPL).
TTP is Thailand’s leading tinplate steel manufacturer,
and is located in Samutprakarn Province just outside
Bangkok. It has three ETLs already in operation, for
all of which JFE Engineering supplied engineering and
main equipment. The company has once again asked JFE
Engineering for its cooperation in building a fourth
line.
As in the case of the past three lines, JFE Engineering
collaborated with Mitsui & Co. to land the current
ETL contract. JFE Engineering will be responsible for
the general design, supply from offshore, and installation
supervision of the overall facilities, with JP Steel
Plantech Co. providing cooperation for mechanical facilities
and Fuji Electric Systems Co., Ltd. providing similar
services for electrical equipment.
The new line will have a production capacity of 150,000
tons per year and is scheduled to begin operation in
July 2006.
JFE Steel, another JFE Group core company, has built
up over decades top technologies in the world in many
areas of steel production. Capitalizing on these technologies,
JFE Engineering intends to further step up its diverse
sales activities, meeting the requirements of customers
for everything from supply of steel plants to technology
expertise, licenses and operational supervision.
